There is no such thing as an empty space or an empty time. There is always something to see, something to hear. In fact, try as we may to make a silence, we cannot. (Jon Cage, 1957.)
In the translation process, similar things happen in between the lines. There seem to be blank or silent spaces but this is not the same ‘as nothingness’, they can be intense moments of concentrated senses. Every word has a limited range of expression on its own, however, this range is expanded by its context. Context gives a word an infinite range of meanings, when we add to our consideration what we might call ‘reading between the lines’ what we perceive but what is not explicitly articulated. For this series, I captured the negative side of image through the iconic thought bubble shape from 10 classic comics’ frames.
